Meet Statik Selektah, man behind 'Detroit vs Everybody' beat for Eminem, Big Sean & more

DETROIT, MI -- The man behind the beat for a new song called "Detroit vs. Everybody" hails from Lawrence, Mass. and reportedly is still blown away by the opportunity given by Eminem's camp to help create the tune.
Meet Statik Selektah, a 32-year-old producer whose real name is Patrick Baril. He told Complex in an interview last week he can't wait for fans to hear the new, creative approach he took with a classic drum break beat.
"I took the sessions of the actual drums and flipped it, so I can’t wait for people to hear that," Selektah said.
The "Detroit vs. Everybody" song is on the tracklist for Shady XV, the new album that will be released Nov. 24 by Eminem's Shady Records label.
It's a double-disc that has a mix of new songs and some of the label's greatest hits from a variety of groups and solo performers.
"Detroit vs. Everybody" includes lyrics from not only Eminem, but also Detroit natives Big Sean, Trick Trick, Royce da 5'9", Danny Brown and Dej Loaf.
Selektah didn't reveal many details to Complex about the new song, but confirmed it definitely has a "boom bap" sounding type of beat.
"The definition of boom bap," he said. "I’m really excited to hear the song period, man. It’s the kind of beat that I’ve always wanted to hear Eminem on.
It’s definitely a classic vibe. I’m also curious to hear what everybody else sounds like."
